After three weeks of beach going and gelato eating in Sardinia I’m ready to head back to civilisation and start road tripping around Europe again.
First up is a 17 hour (!) ferry ride to Marseille in France followed by a one week road trip, destination unknown.
Even though I can be indecisive I’m also quite spontaneous when it comes to travel. I’m not one for planning and am happy to see where the road takes me. So this road trip I’m going to take that further and let you decide the direction we take. I want you to vote on where we stop each day. 🙂
Each day I’ll be posting the choices for the next day’s destination on Facebook. You get to pick where we’ll stop each day for the next week. Just leave a comment on the Facebook post to cast your vote.
Stop #1: Lyon vs Annecy
From Marseille, we’ll be driving to either Lyon or Annecy. The choice is yours. Vote now on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/destinationeurope
Lyon is is the gastronomic capital of France, known for their sausages, leek gratin and quenelles (a kind of dumpling) amongst many, many other things. The city is the third largest in France and looking over the city from the hilltop Fourvière quarter is a beautiful sight.
My favourite memory from Lyon is watching the sun go down as I sipped cocktails with my family at the top floor bar of the Sofitel hotel.
Set on a peaceful lake, Annecy is one of the most beautiful towns in all of Europe with a former prison at its centre. Like Lyon, it’s a great foodie destination and one of their specialities is candied nut praline which they add to croissants, brioche and other sweet treats. It’s delicious!
