Lisbon in September

Lisbon's historic yellow tram

Lisbon is a vibrant, dynamic city which offers something for everyone; traditional architecture, modern developments, quiet parks, a crazy nightlife and a cuisine derived from its coastal location and multi-cultural roots. Each neighbourhood is unique and as a first time visitor I was grateful to our Lisbon tour guide who took us from the main squares to the back streets to areas I never would have discovered on my own in such a short period. It’s an easy city to get lost in which of course is part of the fun but sometimes it’s nice to know where you’re going!

I have so much to say about the city and I plan to go back next year to spend more time there, maybe even for a few months. For now, here are some of my favourite Instagram photos from my quick 3 day trip. Thanks to Housetrip for putting me up in their lovely and very cheap Lisbon apartment in the Marques de Pombal area of Lisbon.

  1. In love with your photography!! Great post my friend. I have never visited Portugal at all but hope to someday, especially now that my dear friend has moved to Lisbon!

    • That was my first trip and I loved it. There are so many great neighbourhoods to explore. I hope you’ll get to visit some time!

  2. Oh Lisbon, such a lovely city. It gives me both a happy and nostalgic feeling. I was there for christmas 2010 to meet up with my family visiting from Costa Rica and it was totally unique. Is a country where people is kind, food is delicious, weather is friendly and air is subtle at all times. Thanx for bringing good memories back!

    • I’m flattered that I could bring back some happy memories for you. Even though I didn’t spend much time in Lisbon I really would love to go back. It was love at first sight for me!

  3. Gorgeous photos Andrea! Sometimes I can’t believe how many places I’ve seen in Europe and yet I’ve never set foot in Lisboa, much less Portugal. Must must must do that in 2013!

    • It’s a shame you couldn’t go to TBU in the end. It would have been great to see you again and I’m sure you would have loved Portugal!

  4. Andrea, as always I love your Instagram photos! So so pretty.

And it was fun to hang out with you again on another trip. 🙂

  5. Beautiful, evocative photographs. Another inspiration to get to Portugal soon!

  6. These photos are absolutely gorgeous. Portugal is on my travel bucket list!

  7. I wish I had time to explore the rest of Portugal after TBU. Will have to go back next summer I think!
