On my visit to Porto, I stayed near the football stadium, which was quite far from the Old Town and waterfront, a decision I later regretted.
Ribeira is a better choice, with its narrow cobblestone streets, colourful 18th-century townhouses, and views of the Luís I Bridge.
Adjoining Ribeira is Vitória, another interesting area known for its mix of historic charm and proximity to Porto’s main attractions.
